Development Update & Important Reminder to Backers

Hey guys, hope you all have a great start to your week!
Today I wanted to go over a couple of things related to Spell Blaster's development and the Kickstarter to keep you all informed.
Development Update
Some of you may be aware that Spell Blaster was being developed with Pixel Game Maker MV. In fact, the current demo that is available to download and play right now was built with that engine. While Pixel Game Maker was great for prototyping and making a lot of features fast to develop, there were plenty of issues we ran into that seriously hampered progress. Ultimately I made the hard decision to move the development into another engine (GMS2 to be exact), to make sure that I could fulfill my vision for the game, and to deliver the best possible experience.
very important code stuff
And to be quite frank, I'm really excited about it! For one, we were previously limited with the platforms we could release on, but now Spell Blaster will see distribution on PC, Mac, & Linux. I also have plans to release console versions as well, which I will tell you all about as soon as I'm able to discuss it!
The change to GMS2 is allowing me the freedom to rethink how to tackle certain problems I faced in the previous engine. For example, if you played the current demo you may have noticed that it's pretty easy to get stuck on corners of the blocks as you're moving around the environment. Now, that problem has already been solved with a movement/collision system that makes the corners slippery, allowing you to easily move around them.
So in a nutshell, you can expect performance improvements, more features, smoother movement around the stages, and more platform options to play the game on!
Rest assured that the core gameplay is being lifted and brought over to the new engine, so the game won't fundamentally play different than what you may have already experienced. But I am looking forward to the opportunity to make some much needed improvements!
Ultimately my development philosophy is to go for the tools that I need. I don't have particular loyalty to any game engine, and I firmly believe that PGMMV is a great option to use as well. (so don't take my switch as an indictment against the engine, use it if you love it!)
But anyway, that's about it for the development side of things for now. I hope you look forward to playing future versions of the game! Don't forget: next month I'll have the official development board open for the backers to keep up with the progress being made on the game.
Important Reminder
There are a few backers whose payments seemed to have failed to process. Those who are affected would have received an e-mail from Kickstarter alerting you of the issue. (if you got an e-mail from Kickstarter saying your payment was collected then this message doesn't apply to you and you're all set!) But I just wanted to remind those of you that still have their payments waiting to be resolved that if it's not fixed in the upcoming days, Kickstarter will drop your status as a backer. Please make sure to check your spam folder as well if you do not see the e-mail from Kickstarter.
Thanks a lot! :)
THANK YOU!! 🥳

Together with 230 backers, the campaign was a success!
We even managed to reach the Stretch Goal to get us those Two Additional Zones & Bosses. So look forward to a poll in the near future so we can figure out which two zones you guys want. And who knows, maybe we can get another Two Zones at some point as well!
So, what's next?
There's some backend housekeeping that will need to be done with the Kickstarter and the rewards, so that will take up a lot of my initial focus. There's also a bit of prep-work that I have to do to get ready for the next stage of Spell Blaster's development! I expect all of this to take atleast a couple of weeks to sort out.
I'll be providing monthly backer-exclusive updates here on Kickstarter that will keep you informed on what's going on with the game, as well as to get feedback on certain issues. You can also expect to see some public updates in between that will have other important information for you.
Lastly, I'm planning on creating a backer-exclusive board that will track the development of the game, so you'll have an open look at what's being worked on and what's to come.😎
Anyway, that's all for now! I'm really so excited to be able to create this game for you. I thank you for putting your faith in this project.

Spell Blaster is 112% Funded!
Over the past week, we managed to reach the initial $8200 goal thanks to all of you wonderful backers. Now, as mentioned previously we are focused on reaching our Stretch Goals.
With 3 days to go I'm optimistic that we can atleast hit the first $10,000 goal for Two Additional Zones voted on by the community. The last 48 hours of the campaign we should expect to see more backers come in once the "ending soon" emails go out, so keep the faith alive that we'll make it!
In the meantime, you can continue to share the project on social media, with your friends or family you think might want to support us. Oh, and don't forget to join the discord if you haven't yet!
A couple of days ago I created a trello board to allow community members to share their ideas/suggestions for the game. I'm impressed with the cool things some of you have come up with so far!
Cloudscape is an open-world action-adventure survival game coming to PC and all major consoles. Explore a mix of hand-crafted and procedurally generated areas, fully customize your own private island, raise animals, meet and romance villagers, fight monsters, gamble for your life in the spirit world and so much more!
I'm sure many of you have seen this project on Kickstarter already, it's quite the smash-hit success! Cloudscape has 4 days left to go, and still have a couple of Stretch Goals they're aiming for, so if you haven't backed this one yet, check it out now while there's still time left!

Thank You.
With the help of all of you backers, be it fellow developers, friends, family, or new fans, together you helped make this Kickstarter a success.
Being able to continue to develop and release Spell Blaster is an absolute dream come true. So I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
Now with 7 days left to go, I would like to focus our attention on Stretch Goals, so we can make this game even better! Please take a look at the first three Stretch Goals:
$10,000 - Two Additional Zones & Bosses: Two more Zones voted on by the community. Each Zone contains two stages and a Boss at the end.
$12,000 - Two More Zones & Bosses: Two more Zones voted on by the community. Each Zone contains two stages and a Boss at the end.
You can check out the list of zones to potentially choose from here.
$14,000 - 4-Player Battle Mode: At this stretch goal, we'll add a 4-player Battle Mode, similar to Four Swords Adventures' Shadow Battle Mode. Four player party chaos and excitement awaits with this goal!
Four Swords Adventures was a fun game!
I look forward to seeing where we end up in the coming days. Thank you all again so much for your support!💖
GO HEROES: Prometheus is an innovative cross-genre game based on Greek Mythology. You play as the Titan Prometheus, and through the game, you unravel his myth while activating shrines that connect the past with the present. In your journey, you will face fierce enemies and mind-bending environmental puzzles, but fear not! Valuable skills will be given to you while mighty followers accompany and assist you in your mission to Steal the Fire from the Gods!
End of Week Recap: 81% Funded! We're Almost There!🙌

Incredible news!
In my End of Week Recap post from last week I set a goal to get us to 60% funded by today. Well you guys went above and beyond and collectively got us to 81%!
I'm absolutely floored by the pledges from all of you and extremely thankful for the generous backer that claimed the Executive Producer reward! I reached out to the backer and thanked them personally, and we are super fortunate to have their incredible support!
So, now there's 10 days left in the campaign, and we are firmly within striking range of the initial $8200 goal, with just $1494 left to go!
Next I hope that we can get to the $10,000 Stretch Goal for the Two Additional Zones & Bosses.
Speaking of additional zones, last year I put together a mock up for the Spooky Graveyard Zone concept:
just a rough concept!
The undead would emerge from the ground to attack you, while ghosts phase in and out around the scene with all sorts of spooky surprises. It's one of the potential Zones you guys can choose from if we get to the $10,000 Stretch Goal!
I like this stage idea a lot, but I'm more excited to see what you guys might vote for if we reach the stretch goal.
So let's continue to push onward for these last 10 days! Don't forget to keep sharing the project on your social media, and with friends and family and together we'll get reach the goal!
Thank you for all the support and that's all for today! 🥳
